Indian Salary Calculation & Payroll Management e-Book

A Personal Note from the Author

Payroll and compliances are rarely taught in academics—even in MBA programs. The reason is simple: laws, processes, and procedures keep changing. Because of this, there has never been a single platform where someone can learn payroll in its complete, practical form.

The reality is, even professionals with 15–20 years of experience do not have complete clarity on payroll. Most of us know only the part we handle in our day-to-day work. We learn bits and pieces from different sources and manage somehow. But the moment something new or complex arises—especially related to labour laws or compliances—confidence drops. We search for answers, but often end up with partial, confusing, or unreliable information.

Understanding laws and acts is itself challenging. Interpreting them correctly is even riskier. On top of that, various judgments can override interpretations, making things more complicated. This is exactly why there has never been a truly practical, complete payroll book. If you search for one, you will find many—but most are simply copies of acts and laws, not practical guides.

This is where my journey began.

The biggest challenge was to gather complete and accurate information, align it in the right sequence, and then convert complex legal language into simple, practical explanations—with examples and verified values. The goal was to create something that is easy to understand, yet fully aligned with policies, procedures, laws, and judgments.

During this process, the new labour codes were introduced. I made a conscious decision to postpone the launch and align the book with all four labour codes wherever applicable.

Today, this book stands as a complete practical payroll management guide—designed to give you confidence and act as a near single source of truth. It not only simplifies payroll but also guides you to recheck critical values like ESI, PF, PT, Income Tax, interest rates, etc., from the right sources whenever required. Those sources are also provided within the book.

That is the real strength of this book.

I am happy to share the launch of the Indian Salary Calculation & Practical Payroll Management e-book. I have dedicated six months to writing this—transforming complex laws into simple, practical understanding with real examples, fully aligned with the new labour codes.

What often cannot be covered in live training due to time limitations—you will find here in detail.

This book covers everything a payroll professional needs. In most cases, you will not need to look elsewhere. It is designed to help you manage the entire payroll lifecycle, including compliances, with clarity and confidence.

Honestly, it is difficult to fully express the true depth and value of this book—there is so much packed into it.

This book has been reviewed and validated by:

  • Labour Law Expert Advocates
  • Senior Payroll Leaders (Industry Practitioners)
  • Chartered Accountants (CA) specializing in Payroll & Tax
  • Labour Compliance Consultants
  • Ex-Government Labour Officers
  • HR Academicians

If you spend 30 days with this book—one chapter a day—you will develop strong command over Indian payroll and gain the confidence of a subject matter expert.

In many ways, this book offers far more value than expensive training programs that cost anywhere between ₹5,000 to ₹2 lakhs, yet still fail to cover even half of what is included here. More importantly, trainings are often forgotten—but this book stays with you as a practical reference whenever you need it.

Once you complete this book, you will be able to confidently step into the role of a Compensation & Benefits professional, design effective salary structures, and take on a role that is highly in demand.
