About Vishvas Yadav

I'm Vishvas Yadav, founder of HR Calcy. I've spent 16+ years in HR and payroll in India, and I work today as an independent HR and payroll consultant advising organisations on compliance, wage structuring and payroll systems.

HR Calcy exists because the calculations I do professionally — salary breakups, PF and ESI liability, gratuity, the 50% wage rule — are the same ones employees and smaller HR teams struggle to get right. The tools here use real payroll logic, not flat percentages, and they're free.

What I do

As an independent advisor I work with promoters, CXOs, HR leaders and operations teams to build payroll and compliance systems that stand up to audits and scale. My consulting work covers:

  • Payroll and statutory compliance — setup, optimisation and remediation
  • Labour law advisory — PF, ESI, CLRA, gratuity and bonus
  • Wage structuring and cost optimisation — including restructuring under the new Labour Codes
  • HR policy design — review and implementation
  • HRMS and payroll software — selection and implementation
  • Audit readiness — ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2022 and RBA
  • HR and payroll audits — compliance risk assessment

My approach is practical and data-driven rather than theoretical. Regulatory complexity has to become something a leadership team can actually operate.

What I write about here

Everything on HR Calcy sits inside my own practice:

  • Salary breakup and CTC-to-in-hand calculation
  • The new Labour Codes, the revised definition of wages, and the 50% wage mechanism
  • Provident Fund — contribution rules, the wage ceiling, and coverage
  • ESI eligibility, thresholds and contribution
  • Gratuity, bonus and leave encashment
  • Professional tax across state slabs
  • Income tax on salary under both regimes
  • Pay Commission pay matrices and fitment factors

If a topic sits outside what I actually practise, it doesn't go on this site.

How I verify what I publish

These numbers decide what reaches someone's bank account, so accuracy isn't optional. Articles and calculators here are built from primary sources:

  • Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) — circulars and notifications
  • Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)
  • Income Tax Department — Finance Act provisions and CBDT circulars
  • Ministry of Labour and Employment — the Code on Wages, Industrial Relations Code, Social Security Code and OSH Code, including departmental FAQs
  • State notifications for professional tax and minimum wages

Where a provision is proposed rather than notified, I say so in the article rather than presenting it as settled law. Where the Ministry has clarified a point — for example which components enter the remuneration calculation for the 50% threshold — I cite the clarification and its date.

Keeping it current

Statutory rules move. When a wage ceiling changes, a tax slab is revised, or a Labour Code provision is notified, I update the affected articles and calculators rather than leaving stale figures in place. Every article shows its last updated date.

If something here looks wrong or out of date, please tell me. Corrections are welcome and acted on.

A note on scope

The tools and articles here are for information and planning. They reflect standard payroll practice and current statutory provisions, but circumstances vary. For decisions carrying significant financial or legal consequence, consult your payroll team, a chartered accountant, or a qualified legal advisor.
